In about a month it would have been the Vestalia which was celebrated around June 7th to 15th. A time when a girl was hired to remain a virgin for 30 years(10 each as student, vestal, teacher) and had to gather pure water and the maintain sacred fires. Not a bad life — they even got to vote, unlike other Roman women. Except for that pesky little thing call sex. If you got caught — you were buried alive far away under ground, because one could not draw the blood of a vestal or cause their death within Rome.
Some women I know feel their marriages or relationships are like being buried alive. But others are wallowing in the conforming and sharing of all aspects of their life.
No much as changed, just the labels.
